According to bombshell revelation, the U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement have arrested a total of about 250 students during a sting operation for violation of U.S immigration laws.
According to the report, the arrested students were enrolled at a fake university in Farmington Hills set up by ICE to lure in students and about 90 additional foreign students of a fake university in metro Detroit created by the Department of Homeland Security have been arrested in recent months.
Detroit Free Press reports:
Many of the students had enrolled with the university through a program known as Curricular Practical Training (CPT), which allows students to work in the U.S through a F-1 visa program for foreign students. Some had transferred to the University of Farmington from other schools that had lost accreditation, which means they would no longer be in immigration status and allowed to remain in the U.S.
Here’s were it gets interesting… “the students who enrolled into the school knew that they would not attend any actual classes, earn credits or make academic progress towards an actual degree. Each student knew that the university’s program was not approved by the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS), was illegal and that discretion should be used when discussing the program with others.”
Assistant U.S Attorney Brandon Helms wrote in a sentencing memo… “their true intent could not be clearer. While enrolled at the University, one hundred percent of the foreign citizens never spent a single second in a classroom. If it were truly about obtaining an education, the University would not have been able to attract anyone, because it had no teachers, classes or educational services. ”
They knew it was fake and a front to illegally keep their immigration status.
